In
this picture Raja is only 6 months old. As you can
see he is already quite a large dog, I expect he
will finish at 28 inches, Raja's is strongest
points are his superb, classic head; clean and long
with very dark eyes and an excellent scissor bite.
Raja has superb shoulders with a deep chest and a
prominent forechest, qualities we badly need in our
American Giants. His hindquarters are excellent,
with a nice low set hock and he moves true both
front and rear with a strong side gait. Raja is a
classic German style dog and we look forward to
introducing him to our breeding program by mid
1992. Raja has a wonderful, calm disposition; he
gets along with everyone, has a patient, trusting
nature and wants to please, yet his deep warning
bark when someone comes is quite unsettling.
Because of his background, I expect his pups to all
have the German or medium coat.
Raja
is a younger brother of Friper De Pichera, a
magnificent male who lives in Spain. Friper has won
the World Show as well as the Bundessieger titles
and is one of the top winning Giants of all time in
Europe. Raja sire's, Ch. Cunter De Betercan, is now
an old dog, Raja came from one of his last litters,
as males cannot be used in Europe after they are 10
years old. Cunter is supposed to be one of the best
studdogs in Europe today and he has produced many
Champions. In fact, this combination, which was
done 3 times has produced almost all Champions. De
Pichera Kennel is, without question, the top Giant
Kennel in Europe today, winning almost all big
shows the last few years. It was a great honor to
be able to get Raja, one of their best youngsters,
I very much look forward to introducing him into my
Skansen bloodlines, As you know, I have been
fortunate to have imported Ch. Lillemarks Kobuch,
Ch. Quint V. Lobbachtaland, and It. Ch. Halex Di Ca
Mariani.
I
hope and expect that Raja will be as important to
my breeding program as these three predecessors.
Meanwhile, we are all enjoying Raja, in fact, all
the people who work at Skansen and everyone who
visits loves this dog. He truly is impressive even
if only a youngster.
